This was mostly an experiment. On a whim, I sat down and armed with only the Photoshop selection tools, the paint bucket the dissolve brush, and a desire to try someting different, I tried to make a picture. I have never done this before so it was a real challenge to try to make a picture this way. It would be a slam-dunk using Illustrator... but I wanted to see what I could do with Photoshop.
I found it hard to do what I wanted to do. With a little more practice and experimentation, I might figure out some things. If anyone knows of a tutorial anywhere that demonstrates how Photoshop is used like this let me know.

Thanks for dropping in and looking.
Cute illustration. And it even inspired me to check out your SocMo Store!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! It sure looks to me like you've got things pretty much figured out in Photoshop already.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you could teach me a thing or two about Photoshop! Fun as ever, and it really is well rendered...great stuff!
ReplyDeleteI like challenges! Thanks for sharing yours. Your illustration is great. lynda.com has all sorts of great training movies. You can access them for $25 per month, no contract. There are assorted movies in nearly all titles that can be viewed for free too. I think it's a great way to learn. I sometimes do work for her on a freelance basis. Thanks for stopping by too!

ReplyDeleteGreat illustration. Checked out your website. Love your work. Especially Frisbee Dog!
ReplyDeleteHi Doug, your illustration is super fun, I didn't know Soc-Mo had any medical training? Hehe..
ReplyDeleteI answered your question about which software I use on my blog, but I will post it here too. I use Adobe Illustrator with a Wacom tablet. However I have used Photoshop a lot as an in-house artist.
Experimentation is the best way to learn Photoshop. Photoshop has so many different ways to do the same thing. It can be both overwhelming, and liberating, but it looks like you are really off to a great start.
Love your monkey, great ambulance design!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you have a limerick and an illustration, it is a winning combination. A great start for PhotoShop.
ReplyDeleteCute monkey, great illo !
ReplyDeletethanks to all for stopping by and for the nice comments!
